An Israeli drone allegedly hit a vehicle in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, killing a Hamas police officer, Walla reported Wednesday morning, citing Palestinian reports. Overnight Wednesday, the IDF fired artillery at several areas in Gaza, including central Gaza and also at Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, where Hamas is still attempting to reinstate itself, according to the IDF.

US Gaza aid envoy David Satterfield is set to step down shortly and will be replaced by former senior United Nations official Lise Grande, two sources familiar with the issue told Reuters on Wednesday.Satterfield was appointed six months ago as the U.S. special envoy for Middle East humanitarian issues, specifically focusing on leading the US response to the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Iranian rapper Toomaj Salehi - who was arrested during the Woman, Life, Freedom protests that swept Iran in 2022 - was sentenced to death, Salehi's lawyer, Amir Raesian, told the Shargh newspaper on Wednesday.Salehi was prosecuted on charges with corruption on earth.The rapper was arrested in October 2022, amid the nationwide protests. At the time, the Iranian Fars News Agency referred to Salehi as "one of the leaders of the riots." Fars claimed that Salehi was trying to flee the country when he was arrested.He was sentenced in July to six years and three months in prison, but was released on bail after the Iranian Supreme Court found "flaws" in the original sentence. He was then rearrested in December after publishing a video saying he was tortured while detained.Raesian stated that there were several "inconsistencies" in the new verdict and that he intends to file an appeal. He added that the court in Isfahan that sentenced Salehi referred to the Supreme Court's decision as "advice."

Turkey on Wednesday accused the United States of having a policy of double standards on human rights, saying Washington's annual rights report failed to reflect Israel's assaults in Gaza.Turkey's foreign ministry said in a statement it was deeply concerned that the US report did not "duly reflect the ongoing inhumane attacks in Gaza."The report was prepared with "political motives, far from impartiality and objectivity", it said, calling on Washington to cease its "double-standard policy on human rights".It also cited US ties with the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, which Ankara deems a terrorist organization
